Versatile Blogger Award

I was quite amazed today to find that Priscilla at onlinedatingjournal nominated me for a Versatile Blogger Award. Thank you, Priscilla!

Versatile Blogger Award

What exactly is a versatile Blogger? It’s not someone who writes poetry on a bathroom wall… one tile at a time.😉 I’ve only been here a short time so whatever it is I don’t feel I qualify just yet but I’m happy to take it regardless!

Versatile Blogger Award Rules:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you. If you have not already visited Priscilla at her very entertaining and informative onlinedatingjournal please do. You will not regret it!
  2. Tell seven things about yourself. (see below).
  3. Nominate 15 other bloggers. (know less that 15 bloggers? Do your best.)
  4. Post the image of the award in your acceptance post. Done, see above!

Seven Things about Myself:

  1. I’m a big fan of puns. I can’t resist using them when they’re there to be take advantage of. Colleagues go home sick when I roll out the Dad-jokes.
  2. I’m a nerd. Or a geek? Not sure. Science geek, railway geek, cycling geek, and dare I say, writing geek.😉
  3. I have to actively stop myself being overly pedantic. Hmm. So far sounding like Sheldon Cooper without the IQ.
  4. Trees or seas? Trees.
  5. I have little respect for laws that treat people like idiots. I have a blog post brewing about this very topic. Standby…
  6. I laugh at anything, even at funerals.
  7. I often have trouble thinking up the required number of things to say about myself.😉

And the not quite 15 Nominees are… (fumbles and smiles awkwardly while trying to open the glue-sealed, fancy cardboard envelope with gold trim…)

    Hi Richard,

Thanks for liking my post on this subject. You will be familiar with my cynicism (despite being flattered and going along with it). Here is the maths to justify my cynicism:

If one person nominates 10 people, who nominate 10 people, who nominate 10 people, who nominate 10 people…

After 10 rounds of nominations, 10,000,000,000 people would have been chosen.

Whereas there are actually only 7,000,000,000 people alive today.

The Versatile Blogger Award is a scam designed to clog up the Word Press system with rubbish.

    G’day Martin,

Not disputing the maths – it’s all very sound.
However I disagree with the scam theory. I’m not sure how anyone can expect it to “clog up” the WordPress system.
In terms of storage the text and image together might be less than 10 KB – insignificant, even per blogger.
In terms of internet traffic, same.
I haven’t been flooded with VBA posts in the Reader feed or on people’s blogs. I see the odd one occasionally. How about you? If I see a VBA post I still have the choice of ignoring it. This was my first nomination and I admit it is was somewhat exciting, however I expect that excitement to wane with any future VBA’s I may receive, especially given that any man or his dog can nominate people.
I would never assume all 10 or 15 nominees would even acknowledge it let alone forward it on.
As for rubbish, it could be argued that there is far more rubbish on WP that the VBAs. And remember, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.🙂
No, I think it was designed by a well meaning happy person who wanted to spread positive vibes and encouragement to their fellow bloggers, and perhaps spread their name around to try to draw attention to their blog. No real harm in that. I mean, isn’t that why we’re here?

    Have a great week!🙂
